Hurts So Good

I decided to manipulate this photo because, as is, it functioned more as a portrait which really wasn't the intention. I liked the image and the the way that it played into the glamourization of smoking. At the time I was yelling at my friend about her habit and this was her mocking response. She later quit, and I later started. Such is life. Furthermore, the photo just wasn't technically that good. Why not play with the color?

Jen Profile

I took this portrait for my first photography class in 1990. Today, my model (a wonderful friend) had her first baby, a girl. What a day to be born.

The softness is a resuolt o scanning a slide without a transparency adapter. Normally, that produces garbage, but I like the effect here. Better than any filter.
